The new owner of our adorable Vila de Maria told us he wants to install a sculpture of the guard at the entrance to the plot. However, the marble lions or anything like this was not an option and a young and brave modern artist Sergey Melnikov offered an unexpected idea — to create a pop-art crazy Guard — a kind one — who welcomes the guests of the owner. This 3-meter tall sculpture is made of Zink covered metal blown balloons and stainless steel pop-art elements like cherry and bananas — perfect for the humid and aggressive Sintra climate. The lightening of the Guard was planned from several spots — this creates fantastic shades on a beautiful 6m tall concrete wall behind the art piece.
